Indoesian National Monument ( MONAS )

National monument or the popular shorthand or Tugu Monas is monument to commemorate the resistance and the Indonesian people's struggle for independence from the Dutch East Indies colonial administration. Construction of this monument began on August 17, 1961 under the orders of President Sukarno, and opened to the public on July 1975. This monument is crowned with gold-plated leaf flame symbolizing the spirit of struggle shines. National Monument is located right in the middle of Merdeka Square, Jakarta. Monuments and museums are open every day from 8:00 to 15:00 pm West Indonesia Time.
